Couples Therapy
Sometimes, in a relationship, there is a clear issue, such as conflict, communication problems, loss of trust, affairs, emotional distance, sexual difficulties, parenting pressures, or repeated arguments that never seem to resolve. Sometimes it is harder to name. You may just know that the relationship feels stuck, strained, disconnected, or difficult to repair on your own.
I offer couples therapy for adults online and face to face. I work short term and longer term, depending on what you need and what feels appropriate for the relationship.
My approach is integrative, relational, and trauma informed. This means I do not simply look for who is right or wrong. I am interested in the pattern between you, how it developed, what keeps it going, and what each person may be feeling, protecting, avoiding, or struggling to say.
Couples therapy is not about blame, refereeing, or telling one person to change. It is a structured space to slow things down, understand what happens between you, and begin to speak and listen differently.
Together, we may explore communication, conflict, trust, emotional safety, intimacy, affairs, trauma, attachment patterns, resentment, repair, or the impact of wider pressures on the relationship.
My work with couples is informed by relational psychotherapy, attachment theory, trauma research, and training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, including further Gottman training around affairs and trauma. I aim to bring honesty, psychological depth, and a grounded, practical way of working with relationships under pressure.
Couples therapy can be helpful when both people are willing to reflect on the relationship and take part in the work. Where there is ongoing intimidation, coercive control, or abuse, couples therapy may not be appropriate, and safety needs to come first.
